John Dotterweich, III, 82, of Whiting, NJ, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 2, 2024. John was born in Passaic, NJ on November, 19, 1941 to his parents John and Florence (nee: Ratzer) Dotterweich. John honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968, from his service he received a National Defense Service Medal and an Expert Rifleman. John received a MA in Education from William Patterson University and worked as a Principal at Northern State Prison in Newark, NJ until his retirement in 2002. John is a former resident of Marlboro, NJ before moving to Whiting 17 years ago. He enjoyed traveling, dining, and admiring classic cars. He was also an active member at the Whiting United Methodist Church. John is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Lois Dotterweich in 2015, his son Kevin Dotterweich in 2017, as well as his parents John and Florence Dotterweich. Surviving John is his daughter Dana Schmidt and her husband William of Forked River, his two grandchildren, Hunter and Brooke Schmidt as well as his sister Phyllis Lorden. Family and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 from 9:00am to 12:30pm at the Carmona-Bolen Home for Funerals, 66 Lacey Road, Whiting, NJ 08759. A service will take place at the funeral home at 12:30pm. Burial will follow at 2:00pm at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ.
