John Carlos Dubus, Jr., 82, RPh, of Lake Charles passed away Friday, April 26, 2024 in the comfort of his home.
Mr. Dubus was born in Crowley, LA June 12, 1941 to John Carlos Dubus, Sr. and Ozite Landry Dubus. He was a graduate of Kaplan High School where he met his sweetheart Faye. He began studies at Northeast Louisiana University, was a member of the R.O.T.C. and graduated with a Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Pharmacy degree. During his studies at Northeast,Mr. Dubus married his Bride Faye and following graduation, they made Lake Charles their home. He worked fifty years as a Pharmacist in the Lake area, independently as owner of Dubus Pharmacy for fifteen of those years. He looked forward to each new day and loved his job throughout his career. He was a member of the Louisiana Pharmacy Association, American Pharmacy Association, National Pharmacy Association and the Kiwanis Club. Mr. Dubus was also an admirable man of faith and family, who proudly raised three successful children, instilling in them and later his grandchildren, the importance of faith, prayer and family. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and Choir and St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church where he was an usher. He served as a devoted volunteer for the churches and was a member of the Cursillo Movement, ACTS retreats and team, men's bible studies and was a RICA sponsor and Confirmation sponsor for two of his granddaughters. He came to be a voice of wisdom and influence to many; when he spoke, it was of great substance and value and others listened. An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Dubus enjoyed time off for hunting and fishing. His greatest joy was spending time with and doting on his Bride. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren. He loved his life, often woke singing as he started his day and radiated happiness through his smile as he shared his joyful spirit with countless others. He was gentle and kind and gave the best great big bear hugs.
He leaves to honor his memory, his wife of sixty years, Faye Broussard Dubus of Lake Charles; daughter, Traci Dubus Gibson (J.J.); son, David Trent Dubus (Tasha) and seven grandchildren, Jessie Dubus Beckman (Travis) and Jarrett Dubus, Molli Gibson Aguillard (Jack) and Griffin Gibson, Bailey Dubus Doucet (Dustin), Blake Dubus (Samantha) and Grant Evans; three great-grandchildren, Baker Paul Doucet, Evangeline Doucet and Jaxon Dubus; sister-in-law, Charlene Dubus and sisters of heart, Vicki Vezina and Kim David.
He was preceded in death by his oldest son, John Carlos "Trey" Dubus, III, brother, Andre Joseph Dubus and his parents.
