John Dustin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home on Jan. 8, 2026.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John E. Dustin, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend who departed this world on December 31, 2025 at the age of 66. Born on January 21, 1959, in Concord, New Hampshire, John exemplified a life filled with love, dedication, an unwavering commitment to his family and community.

John was a proud graduate of the University of Maine, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Zoology in 1980. He furthered his education at Southern New Hampshire University, earning a Master's degree in Business Administration in 1986. That degree led him to a 40-year career at Eversource Energy, where he was well respected as a Principal Engineer for his expertise, work ethic, and integrity.

Outside of his professional life, John was a man of many passions. John was characterized by his caring and loving nature, always offering a helping hand or a listening ear to those in need. His passion for sports was evident; he was an avid fan of all Boston sports teams and enjoyed playing pick-up basketball into his 40s. His commitment to family extended to coaching and watching his sons' soccer and lacrosse teams, where he instilled in them the values of teamwork and perseverance. He cherished summers at the family's lake retreat house in Moultonborough, New Hampshire, where he created countless memories with his loved ones and enjoyed views of the lake on his swing with his favorite schnauzer, Maggie. His generosity and warmth touched the lives of many, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

John was the cherished son of Cedric H. Dustin II and Elinor M. (Shannon) Dustin. He is preceded in death by both his parents and his beloved daughter-in-law, Sarah Pauline Fisher. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 42 years, Melodie A. (Styles) Dustin, whom he first met when he was 6 years old. She was his partner in every sense of the word, sharing a life filled with joy, support and love. John is also survived by his three sons: Timothy J. Dustin and his girlfriend, Meghan R. Ruffin, of Akron, Ohio; Gregory S. Dustin and his girlfriend, Katherine A. Meola, of Shrewsbury; and Bradley P. Dustin and his wife, Lauren J. Dustin, of Hopedale. Additionally, he is mourned by his two brothers, Cedric H. Dustin III and Robert M. Dustin and his wife, Carolyn, as well as two cherished nephews, Daniel Dustin and his wife Emilia Raimondo; and Brian Dustin.

Family and friends are invited to honor John's life by visiting with his family on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 3:00-6:00 PM at the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury, MA.
