John Ehrlich, age 68, a resident of Plainfield, IL and formerly longtime of Naperville, IL, passed away suddenly on December 2, 2022 at his home. He was born on April 5, 1954 in Sheboygan, WI.
John is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Jane (nee Janick); his loving children, Nicholas Ehrlich of Hartford, CT and Lindsay (Gordon) Walsh of Bloomington, MN; his cherished grandchildren, Bodie and Theo Walsh; his siblings, Barbara (Paul) Born, Overland Park, KS, Helen Anne (Marvin) Vogel of Howard Grove, WI, and Robert (Deborah) Ehrlich of Rosemont, MN; his mother-in-law, Therese Janick; his siblings-in-law, Jan Janick, James Janick, Timothy (Jean) Janick, Tammy (Kurt) Roesler; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and great friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Helen Ehrlich; and his father-in-law, Gerald Janick.
John was born and raised in Sheboygan, WI. He was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 4, with whom he became a Junior Scoutmaster and earned the Eagle Award, Boy Scouts highest honor. His passion continued into adulthood as a Cub Master for his son's Cub Scout Troop.
John graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1972 and the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater in 1977. Professionally, he spent his career working in sales as a leader for Campbell Soup Company, Hypoguard, and Cambridge Sensors USA.
John was known for his kind, giving, and welcoming nature as well as his sense of tradition. Whether it was the annual ski trip to Michigan with friends, the Ehrlich family Weenier Roast at Terry-Andrae State Park on the coast of Lake Michigan, or the Janick family BGO Golf Outing around Milwaukee, he was always the first one to arrive and the last to leave, making sure everyone had a good time. These were just some of the activities he truly enjoyed passing along to his children and grandchildren.
Doing home improvement projects was not just a chore, it was a hobby that he took great pride in just like everything else in his life. He enjoyed hosting backyard gatherings for all and playing poker monthly with his lifelong friends. Regardless, John could be counted on to always offer you a cold drink, a warm hug, and a friendly smile.
