John S. Ellixson Jr.

John S. Ellixson Jr., age 60 of Wilmington, DE fought the good fight and passed away peacefully at home on March 8, 2024 with his family and friends by his side. Born in Chester, PA, John was a Wilmington, DE resident for most of his life, however he also lived in Pompano Beach, FL for several years. John was a Verizon Fios Technician and really enjoyed his friendship with his co-workers. John loved without expectations and had many, many friends. Once you met John, you had a friend in him. John was a graduate of Delcastle Technical High School class of 1981. He was known for his great sense of humor and quick wit. He loved disc golf and was instrumental in designing the course and implementing Tuesday Night Doubles at Bellevue State Park. In recognition of his dedication, a bench will be placed at Hole 16 in his honor. He always looked forward to the annual disc tournament weekend at Camp Tockwogh. Beginning at a young age, John also enjoyed bowling and was a member of several leagues throughout his life. John enjoyed rock music with a special affinity for the band Rush. His ability to memorize and understand song lyrics was phenomenal. He also enjoyed sports and watching the Phillies, there wasn't a game he missed. He was a member of F.O.E. # 74 of Wilmington, Moose Family Center of Wilmington, the Elks Lodge in Cape Henlopen and the Amvets Post #2 in Long Neck DE. He loved spending time at his summer home in Long Neck, DE. He will be sorely missed by his friends, family and fur babies, Shylo and Cali. John is preceded in death by his father John S. Ellixson Sr. He is survived by his wife Karen Brooks, children Michael (Laura), Amanda, John "JT" III, Conard " Joey", Justin, Brett, Grandson, Callum, mother, Gretchen Ellixson (nee Holcombe), brother, David Ellixson (Angela), sister, Gretchen Ellixson Leary (Ed), mother-in-law, Louise Vernon, sister-in-law Christine Commodari (Michael), brother-in-law, William J. Vernon III (Patricia), and a host of friends, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd. Garnet Valley, PA. from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, followed by a prayer service at 1:00 pm.
