John D. Faraone, age 69, of Newark, DE, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024.
Born and raised in Wilmington, DE, John was one of three children born to the late Francis & Joan (Weir) Faraone. He attended and graduated from DelCastle High School, Class of 1973. After graduating from high school, John served in the United States Air Force from 1973 until his honorable discharge in 1977. John then went onto to serve his community for 32 years as a Postal Carrier for the United States Postal Service.
John was a big sports enthusiast and he loved watching hockey (NHL), baseball (MLB), football (NFL), wrestling events, and the ponies down at the racetrack. John also enjoyed getting out onto the green to play golf whenever he was able.
John is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Gail Faraone; his sons, Thomas B. Rice (Cynthia) and Christopher Rice; his grandchildren, Alex, Addison, and Landon; his sister, Grace Marando (Michael). John is also survived by many other family members including cousins, his grand-niece, and his grand-nephew. John was preceded in death by his brother, Anthony Faraone, survived by his wife, Christine, and his daughters, Ashley and Alyssa.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, October 11, 2024 from 9:30AM-11AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 82 Possum Park Rd., Newark, DE 19711. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the Faraone family requests that memorial contributions be made in John's name to the Wounded Warrior Project. Contributions may be made online by visiting www.woundedwarriorproject.org and clicking the red "DONATE" button in the top right hand corner or by mailing in to P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516.
