John Scott Ferguson, 60, of Wall Township, NJ passed away unexpectedly on September 25, 2024. Born on July 15, 1964, Scott is survived by his beautiful wife, Jeanne-Marie (Walsh), children, Liam, Sean, and Claire; his father William; siblings William, Greg (Linda), Kim (Mike), and Robert; and countless nieces, nephews and loved ones. He is predeceased by his mother Marjorie (nee Sullivan.)
Scott was raised in New City, NY, and graduated from Iona College. After graduation, he began a lifelong career in Construction Management, later co-founding his own company GS Ferguson Group with his brother Greg. Scott's work ethic was unmatched. He was devoted and diligent, respected by his peers, and loved by all.
During the magical summer of 1989, he met his future wife Jeanne-Marie "husband hunting" at the Seashell on Long Beach Island, New Jersey. Scott quickly endeared himself to Jeanne-Marie's friends and family. They were married on October 13, 1991, at the Pearl River Hilton. Liam was born in 1996, followed by Sean in 1998 and Claire in 2002. His family was his pride and joy. The family lived in Oradell, NJ for 10 years and has resided in Wall Township since 2002.
Scott was a pillar in the Wall community. He was his children's biggest cheer leader, present at every single game. He didn't just cheer for his children; he encouraged and befriended the entire team, all the coaches, and the parents. These relationships grew into life-long friendships.
Scott was the type of husband, father, and man not many people are lucky enough to have in their lives. He made his family feel safe, protected, and more than anything, loved. He was always there, sharing his words of wisdom and bedrock sense of right and wrong. The things Scott said stuck with you and will continue to provide us comfort.
We will remember Scott by the way he made the people around him feel, the light he shed on everyone, and the hope he brought to every situation. He did not care for the materialistic things in life, he cared about the loved ones around him. We will never forget Scott's magic, beauty and love.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday September 30, 2024. From 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals 2643 Old Bridge Road Manasquan, NJ 08736. Our heartfelt condolences to John's family. We had the good fortune of working with him for the past year on the construction of several buildings for the Borough of Fair Haven. He was a wonderful person and extremely adept at resolving the inevitable disputes in a calm and non-confrontational way. - Eli Goldstein and Laura Berwind, The Goldstein Partnership

At Greg's Batchelor party and after many drinks, Scott bought Rose's for me to bring to Candy. As we left the bar we walked (stumbling) arm and arm with me carrying the Rose's across the parking lot singing. Can't imagine what anyone one who saw us was thinking.
