John Fleming Hunt, 66, of Valdosta, passed away at his home on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. He was born in Tallahassee, Florida, on September 17, 1958. Fleming was the son of the late Reverend John Wilson Hunt and Mary Ann Fleming Hunt.
He graduated from Brunswick High School and earned his Associate degree from Brunswick Junior College. He moved to Valdosta, Georgia, in 1981 and began working as a salesman with Prudential Insurance Company. Fleming found his niche in sales and worked in the industry for 46 years. He had a successful career with Star Insurance Agency and, in 2018, proudly purchased the agency, which became his pride and joy.
Fleming was a devoted Georgia Bulldog fan. His favorite pastime during the fall season was spending Saturdays watching his Dawgs play. He was also an active member of Park Avenue Church and a long-standing member of the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class led by Terry Hiers.
He was preceded in death by his father, Reverend John Wilson Hunt; his mother, Mary Ann Fleming Hunt; and his sister, Becky Hunt Proctor.
Fleming is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kaye Chastain Hunt; and his four sons:
• John Fleming Hunt Jr. of Hahira, GA, and wife Abigail Hancock Hunt
• William Chastain Hunt of Tallahassee, FL, and wife Lindsay Pillow Hunt
• James Wesley Hunt of Hahira, GA, and wife Kelsie Johnson Hunt
• Albert Wilson Hunt of Atlanta, GA
He is also survived by six beloved grandchildren: Kamryn Michelle Hunt, Mary Collins Hunt, Walker James Hunt, Marigold Blair Hunt, Harper Ann Hunt, and Palmer Kaye Hunt.
In addition, he is survived by two sisters: Ellenwood Hunt Barton and husband Tom of McDonough, GA; and Julia Hunt Luke, also of McDonough, GA.
Fleming was a devoted husband, proud father, loyal son, supportive brother, beloved “DD,” cherished friend, and a proud member of his community.
