John Matthew "Matt" Foley III

John Matthew Foley, III, 40, passed away unexpectedly on August 6, 2022.
Matt was born on April 3, 1982 as the first child to John and Linda Foley. He was raised in Pompton Lakes and graduated from Pompton Lakes High School. It was in 2002 where he would meet his wife Jennifer through friends whom he would later marry and build a life with in Pequannock. They found pleasures in the simpler aspects of life, playing with their children in the yard, roasting marshmallows on the fire pit, and stealing away for day trips and outings.
Matt will always be remembered for his gentle spirit and good sense of humor. And there isn't anyone who wouldn't highlight his heart for animals, his penchant for teasing and joking with his favorite people, or that he provided the kind of loyalty in friendship that is one in a million. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Matt is survived by his wife, Jennifer; his children, Makayla and Hunter; his parents, John and Linda; his sister, Kelly; his father in-law, Mark Struble; his sister in-law, Samantha; his brother in-law Kevin and his wife Annie; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother in-law, Robin.
Family and friends may visit from 4-8 pm on Friday, August 12, 2022 at M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at First Reformed Church Cemetery, Pompton Plains.
