John W. Gaeddert, 78, of Buhler, Kansas, passed away peacefully to his Heavenly home on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at Hospice House in Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born on September 2, 1946 in Hutchinson to Frank and Katherine (Siemens) Gaeddert.
He grew up on a farm near Buhler and graduated from Buhler High School with the class of 1964. John later attended Bethel College.
John served in alternative service in Denver, Colorado where he met his future wife, LaDonna Egli. They married on July 19, 1969 in Denver.
He was an active member of the Hebron Mennonite Church in Buhler, and later Buhler Mennonite Church.
John was a lifelong farmer.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, LaDonna Gaeddert of the home; son, Jason (Kristy) Gaeddert of rural Inman; daughter, Heather (Chad) Martens of Buhler; six grandchildren; sister, Lois (Gerald) Leinbach of Hesston; and brothers, Frank (Mary Ellen) Gaeddert of Hesston, and Leon (Ruth) Gaeddert of Buhler.
John was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Jane Wiens and Marna Burckhart.
Graveside services will be held at 9 a.m., Friday, May 2, 2025 at the Hebron Church Cemetery. Memorial services will follow at 10:30 a.m., at Buhler Mennonite Church. The service will be livestreamed at www.youtube.com/c/BuhlerMennoniteChurch. Family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, May 1, at Buhler Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to Buhler Mennonite Church or Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) in care of Buhler Mortuary, PO Box 589, Buhler, KS 67522.
