John "Small" Galasso, 100, of Allendale Ave., Johnston, passed away with his wife at his side on Wednesday, January 11, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Maria (Piccirilli) Galasso.
Born October 5, 1922, in Providence, he was a son of the late Sabatino Galasso and the late Julia (Testa) Galasso Ruotolo.
John served during WWII with the US Army. He was a member of the Laborers Union #271 before retiring in 1986 and later worked for MPM Management until he was 84 years old.
Being in the home he created for he and his wife brought him great joy. John was a model train enthusiast.
In addition to his wife of 50 years, he leaves his sisters, Irene Gianfracco and Carol Monacelli; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Ben Galasso, Albert Ruotolo, Mary Lombardi and Flora Silvio.
His funeral will begin Tuesday, January 17, at 9am from the 'WOODLAWN" Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Our Lady of Grace Church, Johnston. Burial will follow at St. Ann Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday morning from 8:15am until 9am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
