John Joseph Gallagher, beloved father of Rebecca Gallagher, formerly of Waltham, Massachusetts, passed away at his home in Florida on September 22, 2025.
Born on June 24,1969 in Waltham, Massachusetts, John was the youngest of Robert and Eleanor Gallagher’s twelve children. John was a graduate of Waltham High School class of 1987. He moved to Florida in his late teens and worked as Assistant Manager and Manager at Chick-fil-A and then as Manager at The UPS Stores.
John loved sports and outdoor activities. From the Boston area, he loved the Red Sox and the Boston Bruins but in Florida, he became a big fan of the Tampa Bay Rays and The Lightning. He enjoyed playing tennis, kayaking, and biking. On visits back home to New England he loved to see the city sights, hike in the mountains, and enjoy the beaches with family. John especially enjoyed planning trips to Disney theme parks and Florida’s beaches with family, but mostly with his daughter, Rebecca. He was a loving and devoted father.
John leaves behind, his daughter Rebecca Gallagher and husband Jonathan Goodfellow, siblings, Kathy Winarski (Jim), of Trinity, FL, Rich Gallagher, Walpole, MA, Bob Gallagher (Carolyn), Hudson, MA., Nancy Veiga (Steve), Ipswich, MA., Paul Gallagher, St Petersburg, FL, Phil Gallagher (Keith), Bedford, VA, Steve Gallagher (Lilia) Medway, MA. Bill Gallagher (Missy), Hull, MA. Neal Gallagher, St Petersburg, FL., his nephews Mike and Steve, his nieces, Suzanne, Laura, Teresa, Heather, Stephanie, and Meghan. John was predeceased by his parents and his brother Mark and sister Mary.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Meadowlawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, located at 4244 Madison Street, New Port Richey, FL 34652, on October 18, 2025, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
The family invites donations in John’s name to the Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation.
