John Robert Gallick, 82, of North Port, FL passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2024.
He was born on October 14, 1941, in Blossburg, PA the son of John and Veronica (Wiedner) Gallick. John was in the 1959 graduating class at East Aurora High School, NY. He graduated from the University of Georgia and later received his MBA in Accounting and Finance from the University of Chicago. John married Jane Duello on May 22, 1965 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Glenview, IL. They were happily married for 59 years and he was a loving father of their three children and four grandchildren.
John had a strong work ethic and held a number of senior management roles throughout his career in finance and administration. After his retirement from Enzyme Bio-Systems, John and Jane moved south to North Port, Florida but continued to enjoy summers in Illinois. He was a devoted and faithful member of San Pedro Catholic Church in Florida as well as St. Peter Catholic Church when up north.
John was a talented problem solver, could fix just about anything, and was always willing to help others. John loved to spend time with his family and to be outdoors running and exploring sites during camping and sailing adventures. He was an avid sailor, enjoying competitive racing with his close friends. John was also a member of the Sarasota Sailing Squadron and was active with the Milwaukee Coast Guard Auxiliary for 25 years.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Gallick; daughters, Tricia (Robert) Elko and Stephanie (Derek) Gregor; son, Jon Michael (Julie) Gallick; grandchildren, Lydia Elko, Fernando Elko, Logan Gregor, and Brayden Gregor; brother, Larry (Betty) Gallick; brothers-in-law, Henry Kopeck and Robert Wiltshire; numerous nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Beth (Gallick) Kopeck and Mary Ann (Gallick) Wiltshire.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024 in St. Peter Catholic Church, 620 Blackhawk Blvd., South Beloit, IL with Fr. Alex Parafina officiating. Visitation of Remembrance will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Friday in the church. Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Rd., Beloit, WI, assisted the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be given to St. Peter Catholic Church or the Stateline Works of Mercy Day Center ([email protected])
