John Stites Gant III

It is with sadness that we announce that John Stites Gant, III passed away on May 1.
He was preceded in death by his father Jack Gant. He is survived by his mother Lynn Gant March, four children, Michael (India), Katy McPike (John), Christopher, and Allison Newhart (Alex), three grandchildren, his former wife, Janis Worst Gant, his sister Amy Fitzgerald (Patrick), and their children, Riley, Lucy, Owen, and Jesse, his fiancée Debbie Woods and his beloved dog, Charlie.
He graduated from Miami University in Ohio with a Master's degree in Environmental Science. He spent most of his working life as plant manager and general manager of several chemical companies, especially Carbide Industries. He also worked in development with the City of Louisville and the University of Louisville. He spearheaded the collaboration of businesses in Rubbertown to finance and develop building an adaptive playground for nearby Cane Run Elementary School. A kind and humorous man, he enjoyed laughing, especially at his own jokes, going to school sports events involving his kids, reading, movies, crossword puzzles, golf and vacationing at Hilton Head yearly with his family.
A graveside service will be held at Cave Hill Cemetery on June 28 at 11 o'clock. All are invited.
Please meet at the Broadway Gate, 701 Baxter Avenue, at 10:45 a.m. A luncheon/reception will follow at Highland Presbyterian Church, 1011 Cherokee Road.
