John Chester Haraf passed away on August 17, 2025, in Lexington, Kentucky, at the age of 68.

Born on July 20, 1957, John was the beloved son of Chester and Eleanor Haraf. He grew up alongside his brother, David, forming bonds that would last a lifetime.

John pursued his passion for engineering with dedication and excellence. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and went on to complete a Master's Degree at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. His academic achievements laid the foundation for a career marked by diligence and integrity.

Those who knew John remember him as a brilliant, generous, unselfish, and hard-working engineer, husband and father. His character left a lasting impression on colleagues, friends, and loved ones alike. Whether through quiet acts of kindness or steadfast commitment to his work, John consistently put others before himself. He was a fierce protector of his family in every way and always put Martha and Cole first.

He was a huge sports enthusiast and since moving to Lexington became a huge UK wildcat fan in both football and basketball as he secured season tickets for both. He enjoyed taking care of his 20 acre horse farm and could often be seen outside working hard.

John ran to the loving arms of Jesus and is celebrating in heaven. John knew no stranger and was a friend to all.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
