John Emory Hewitt Sr., age 77, of Glen Burnie, passed away on August 5, 2024. He was born in Catonsville to the late William and Lucille Hewitt.
A proud Vietnam veteran, John honorably served his country in the Army. Following his service, he dedicated his career to the trucking industry, working with various companies, including Samuel Coralluzzo Co. and Torriss Transport, where he spent the last 20 years before retiring last year. In his free time, John cherished moments of relaxation and had a passion for film and projection. His legacy is one of service, dedication, and a love for the simple pleasures in life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 33 years, Susan; and his brother, William Hewitt.
John is survived by his loving children, Steven Halley (Stacia), John Hewitt Jr. (Alexandra) and Emily McKenzie (Charlie); and his cherished grandchildren, Sierra, Sean, Penny, Allison and Nora.
Visitation will be held at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, Glen Burnie, on Tuesday, August 27th, from 5 – 8 PM. Inurnment will be held on Thursday, August 29th, 10 AM, at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Truckin 4 Troops by visiting www.truckin4troops.org
