John C. Hickman Jr., a devoted father, brother, son, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2025 surrounded by his family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of quiet strength, compassion, and unwavering love for his family and community. Born in Rockville, Maryland, John grew up surrounded by the values of hard work and service, installed by his parents, the late John C. Hickman Sr. and Ethel E. Hickman. The Hickman family was well known in Rockville, where they owned and operated Hickman's Exxon Station in the heart of town - a local landmark and a symbol of their dedication to the community.

John later settled in Darnestown, Maryland, where he built a life rooted in family and generosity. He was a proud father of three children, who were the center of his world and the source of his joy. His love and guidance will remain with them always.

John's life was a testament to humility, loyalty, laughter, and kindness. Though he never sought recognition, his impact was felt deeply by all who knew him. He touched many lives with his larger-than-life spirit and strength, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire.

He is survived by his sister, Terri Hickman, daughters Emily Hickman Crosby (Chris Crosby) and Ashlea Hickman, son Martin Friese, granddaughter Olivia Crosby, nephews James and Justin Veirs. He is fondly remembered alongside his late sisters, Debbie Hickman and Karen Hickman Veirs.
