John Husted Obituary
Born in Madison, Wisconsin, a son of Else A. Meinke and Arthur L. Husted, one of two sons. Jack graduated from West High School, then earned his Bachelors Degree from University of Wisconsin-Madison, Class of 1952, and was awarded his Master's Degree in Engineering from University of Wisconsin-Madison, Class of 1955.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served as a First Lieutenant during the Korean Conflict era and was awarded the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. During his service years, he attended the Engineer School in Fort Belvoir, VA and had been stationed in Jima Japan as well as Fort Sheridan, Illinois.
Prior to retirement, Jack worked his complete professional career of 35 years with Dupont Chemical as a Design and Application Engineer in the Plastics field. After retirement, he attended the University of Delaware, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute where his passion and creative / artistic pursuits in painting, drawing and sculptures flourished.
In addition to his artistic passions, Jack enjoyed his home wood working studio, building and crafting furniture, some of which his family still has and cherishes in their homes. He enjoyed sharing time spent with his family and grandchildren.
In addition to his late parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Harry C. Husted who passed in 2015. Jack was survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Grace M. Schwenker Husted; his three sons, John, husband of Kelly Husted, Michael, husband of Donna Husted and Daniel Husted; four grandchildren, Kathryn, Rachel, Mick and Dan Husted.
Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Williams Funeral Home and Burial Services.
Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
