Giovanni "John" Battista Iannucci passed away on December 21, 2022 at the age of 89. He was born on December 12, 1933 in Pofi, Italy; son of Santo and Anna (nee DeSantis) Iannucci. John immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island at the age of 4. He married Barbara Hulburd in 1955 and enjoyed 42 years of marriage until her death in 1997.
John was a graduate of Cass Tech High School where he excelled in music. He served in the United States Army Air Corp for 6 years where he was part of the 139th Army Band. John was a retired agent from United Insurance. He also worked for many years in both sales and construction. John was an accomplished musician and singer. He played the accordion and sang with the band The Ascots for many years. His love of music enabled him to teach others and play solo for many years in many establishments.
John was the type of man who would light up a room with his great smile and personality. He loved being the center of attention where he would tell great stories and funny jokes. As a movie buff, John loved watching classic old movies. Of all of his interests and hobbies, his biggest love in life was spending time with his family and friends.
John was predeceased by his wife Barbara and sons Frank and Jack (Patty). He will be missed by his children Patricia (John) Iannucci-Waller, Lea Iannucci, Dino Iannucci, and Nancy (David) Welke. He adored his grandchildren Melissa Iannucci, Jacqueline (Brian) Ward, Lia (Sam) Vida, Ezra Iannucci-Nemeth, Dylan, Alex, and Bella Welke, and 7 great-grandchildren.
A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, December 28th from 11 am until the time of his Memorial Service at 5:30 pm at A.H.
