Dr. John Iaquinta (Doc, Johnny I, Johnny Love) passed away on May 25, 2024, at the age of 65 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones. Despite the pain, John fought like a hero and stayed strong until the very end. He was a deeply caring and selfless husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend.
John was born on November 23, 1958, in Detroit, MI to Frank and Louise. He grew up in Dearborn, Michigan where he developed many lifelong friendships, made his mark on the Edsel Ford High School Wrestling team, and went on to complete an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. He furthered his education by pursuing a doctorate of dentistry at the University of Detroit Mercy, where he then went on to begin his practice in 1985. He practiced for nearly 40 years and created a wonderful community within his business, treating generations of families and building lasting relationships. There was no fear in going to the dentist when going to Dr. John!
John was extremely hard-working, highly respected and served as a mentor to many friends and family members throughout his life. He loved DIY home projects, going on family vacations to Lake Tahoe and spending time with family as often as he could. He was a lifelong Detroit Lions fan, holding season tickets for 15 years and even attended the two home playoff games in January 2024.
John is predeceased by his father, Frank, and stepfather Les Lanzetta. John is survived by his wife of 26 years, Kathy; daughters, Nicole, Danielle, and Alyssa; stepsons, Ryan (Cheryl), and Aaron; grandchildren, Jayden, Tyler, Riley and Blake; mother, Louise; siblings, Frank and Sharon (Kevin); nieces and nephews, Megan (Adam), Jason, Amy, Alicia, Andrea, Brayden, Eliyana and Leyland among many other friends and family members.
To celebrate John's life, a visitation will be held on Thursday, May 30,2024, from 1-8 PM at O'Brien-Sullivan Funeral Home 41555 Grand River Ave Novi, MI. A mass will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024 at the Catholic Church of the Holy Family 24505 Meadowbrook Rd. Novi at 10:30 AM with visitation from 10 am until time of mass. A luncheon will follow mass at Farmington Hills Manor 23666 Orchard Lake Rd. Farmington Hills. Family and friends are invited to remember a man who was deeply loved and will be missed dearly.
