John Earl Jackson, age 80, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2025. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, to John "Poppie" Jackson and Almeta Ward, he was raised in Houma, LA, where he developed the strong roots and values that guided him throughout his life. He later made his home in
Corpus Christi, Texas, where he became a respected professional, a dedicated community servant, and a beloved friend to many.
He attended Catholic schools throughout his early life, where he developed a strong foundation in both faith and education. After completing his schooling, he pursued higher education at Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where he continued his commitment to learning and growth.
John proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a Non-Commissioned Officer, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. Following his military service, he continued to serve the nation as a Federal civilian employee for more than 40 years. He retired from the Corpus Christi Army Depot as the Chief of the Accounting Division, where his leadership, integrity, and expertise left a lasting impact.
Deeply committed to his community, John contributed his time and talents to numerous organizations. He served on various boards of directors, including Gulf Coast Credit Union, Rally Credit Union, Nueces Center for Mental Health & Intellectual Disabilities, among others. Known for his outgoing personality, John was truly the life of the party-warm, social, and always ready to bring people together.
John is survived by his daughter, Pamela Jill Jackson; his stepson, Ryan E. Watson; and their mother, Vivian Watson, and his sisters, Jonette E. Martina and Marsha J. Ponson of Harvey, Louisiana. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many other relatives and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
John will be deeply missed, but his legacy of service, joy, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
