John Bogart Jenkins, 82 of Chattanooga, TN passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2024. He was born on September 21, 1941 in Bridgeport, Alabama to parents Thurman Bogart Jenkins and Ella Rose Pickett Jenkins.
John Retired from the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department in 2003. He worked for the Sheriff's Department in various capacities from the Mid 1960's until his Retirement from the Civil Process Division. He was also an employee of DuPont for over 30 years Retiring in 1992. He was the owner of Jenkins Gun Shop in Hixson, TN for many years.
John had a love for Chevrolet vehicles, Guns and policework throughout the years. He was a kind hearted man who loved to help others and enjoyed any opportunity to laugh with friends. He loved his family and was always eager to spend time with his children and grandchildren. He put his trust in Jesus many years ago and always encouraged others to do the same.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Maudeania Jenkins, brother, Buddy Franklin Jenkins, Sr., and Son-In-Law Waydell Smith.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his sister, Anne Jenkins Brown, daughters: Glenda Hutcheson, Alfreda Parlier, Johntina Smith-Gibson (Tim Gibson), Anna Stansell (Joe Stansell) and son Wesley Hutcheson. Along with Grandchildren, Christy Parlier, Mandy Beasley, Lacie Green, Dakota Smith, Savannah Stansell, Sarah Stansell, Sydney Stansell, Allie Stansell, Emily Stansell and six great-grandchildren. Along with nieces and nephews who loved their "Uncle Johnny".
The family will receive friends from 11am-1pm, Tuesday, April 30th at Companion Funeral Home-Cleveland location, 2415 Georgetown Rd. NW, Cleveland TN 37311, followed by the service.
