It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of John J. Johnson IV, who departed this life on December 11, 2024, at the age of 60.
Born on May 23, 1964, in Painesville, Ohio, John was a beloved husband, brother, and friend to many. He resided in Simpsonville, South Carolina, where he made a lasting impact on all who knew him.
John proudly worked as a carpenter in the construction industry, where his skill and dedication shone through in every project he undertook. He also worked as an Aircraft Structures Mechanic restoring the structural integrity of planes to ensure the safety of the Airmen who flew them. His love for American history resonated deeply with those around him, and he often shared his passion through engaging conversations. An avid late-night talk radio listener, John found joy in the stories and insights shared on the airwaves.
John is survived by his cherished wife, Allison Johnson; stepchildren, Trevor Bishop and Dean Bishop; sister, Sally Reed and her husband, Gary; and uncle to Ryan and Marie Johnson, Megan Martin, Marie Nall and Mickey Reed. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, hard work, and a zest for life that will be fondly remembered by family and friends alike.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Johnson, III and Judith Grinstead Johnson; and his brother, Timothy Ryan Johnson.
A Memorial Service to celebrate John's life will be held at a later date.
In this time of grief, we invite family and friends to cherish the memories shared. He will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
Friends are encouraged to share their favorite memories of John with the family by clicking on the button labeled "Share A Memory".
