John E Johnston, 77, of Palm Bay Florida went to join his Lord and Savior on July 23, 2024.
He was born in Morenci, Michigan on May 17, 1947, to Ellwood (Johnny) and Dorris Johnston. He was a resident of Palm Bay, Florida for 11 years, coming from Adrian, Michigan. John graduated from Morenci High School in 1965 and was married to Deborah (Morris) Johnston since 2005.
Throughout high school John worked with his father at "Johnny's City Service." He joined the army right out of high school and served his country from 1965 to 1968. He served as a sheriff deputy for Lenawee County in Michigan for 20 years. He was also a police officer for Hudson Police Department and Tecumseh Police Department before moving to California for a short period of time. After returning to Michigan, he started working for Adrian College in 1989 as a janitor, then was paint crew leader. In 2003 he was promoted to the Director of Maintenance and Facilities until he retired in 2013.
John dearly loved his family and friends and would do anything for them. He enjoyed dancing, traveling, hiking, riding motorcycles, and fishing. He was a "jack of all trades". There wasn't anything he couldn't do. He was always working on a project. He loved building and creating new things from old items with his wife. They called it "Reinvented Creations". He was everyone's "go-to-guy". He loved life and was loved by everyone.
He is survived by his spouse, Deborah (Morris) Johnston; children: John Darryl Johnston, Tyler Johnston, Skylar Johnston, stepdaughter, Christine Lariscey; siblings: Judith (Bill) Lumbrezer, Sandra Pennington; Mother-in-Law, Elizabeth Morris; Sister-in-Law: Susan (Hank) Hall. He had nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren and eight nieces and nephews. All of whom he loved dearly.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ellwood (Johnny) and Dorris Johnston; Brother-in-law: Kendall Pennington and Dan Morris; Father-in-law: Billy Morris.
