John J. Karney

John J. Karney, 75, of Orange and Pompano, Florida, passed away peacefully at the Connecticut Hospice, Branford on Tuesday, August 5th, 2025. John was born in Derby on July 24th, 1950, and was the son of the late Joseph and Ruth Busk Karney. He worked for many years as a plumber and ran his own home improvement business in South Florida until his retirement. John was a handyman, known as a jack of all trades who had a humorous way of connecting with people. He loved being outdoors and spending time in his garden competing for the first red tomato of the season. He is survived by his daughter Erin Mansfield and her husband Chris, grandson Ryan and nephew Jim Longo. He was preceded in death by his former wife Bonnie Bain Karney and his sister Barbara Karney. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, August 27th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Catholic parlor service will follow at 7:00 PM in the funeral home. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Connecticut Hospice in Branford in John's name at cthospice.org
