John R. Kimmell, age 74, passed away on Monday, August 25, 2025. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Emma Kimmell. He is survived by his son, Cameron Kimmell and wife Kelly (Allen) Kimmell and grandson Tyler Kimmell. He is also survived by his brother, James Kimmell and wife Gail (Carver) Kimmell and nephews James and Todd Kimmell. John grew up in Irwin and attended Norwin High School before going to Pitt at Greensburg. In 1978 he married Susan Babyak. The family moved to Stahlstown in 1984 to realize their dream of horse ownership. He was active in Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Donegal, and worked as a paralegal at Lieber and Hammer LLC until his death. John had a kind heart, and he loved people. He was always willing to help. John was also a jack of all trades with electrical, plumbing, car repairs, and even horse shoeing. He had a smile that would light up a room and a booming laugh that you couldn't ignore. He will be sorely missed. Friends will be received at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, on Thursday from 3-7 PM. A funeral service will take place in the funeral home chapel on Friday at 11 AM with interment to follow in Penn Lincoln Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given in John's name to the Light of Life Rescue Mission (lightoflife.org). www.shirleyfuneralhome.com
