John Paul Koltiska Jr.

John Paul Koltiska, Jr., a remarkable man known for his kindness, humor, and courage, took his final curtain call on June 27, 2023. Born on January 22, 1969, in Cleveland, Ohio, John was a man of many talents and interests, but his love for everything Pittsburgh was unrivaled. John's journey began in Cleveland, but his heart and soul were firmly planted in Pittsburgh. After attending the University of Pittsburgh, where he studied Criminal Justice and played baseball for the college team, he decided to stay in the city that had captured his heart. He had a particular fondness for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers, and Penguins, becoming their most vocal and passionate supporter. His love for the city was so profound that he could often be heard singing, "I left my heart in Pittsburgh," a heartfelt rendition of Tony Bennett's classic, but with a comic twist. John's humor was infectious, and he had a knack for making even the most mundane situations hilarious. As the late, great Robin Williams once said, "You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it." John took this quote to heart, spreading his spark wherever he went. His colleagues at UPS, where he specialized in the Shipping and Transportation Industry, often said that his humor was the highlight of their day. He had a unique ability to turn any situation into a comedy sketch, making him a beloved figure at work. Family was of utmost importance to John. He is survived by his loving mother, Karen Miller, his caring sister, Michele Parrett, and his pride and joy, his sons Jake and Chad Koltiska. Although John was only in Greenville a few years, he quickly built an extended family with Pals & Wild Country friends. He truly enjoyed his Boot, Scoot & Boogie Buddies. His courage was another defining characteristic. Whether it was facing a tough situation at work or cheering for the Pirates even in their worst seasons, John never backed down. His courage was not the loud, flashy kind but the quiet, steady kind that inspired those around him. He was a man who tackled life's curveballs with a smile and a joke, making him a beacon of positivity for those around him. John Paul Koltiska, Jr., was a man who lived life on his terms, with a smile on his face and a joke on his lips. His humor, courage, and kindness were an inspiration to all who knew him. His love for his family, his city, and his teams was unmatched. He was the kind of man who made the world a better place just by being in it. In the words of the legendary Bob Hope, "I've always been in the right place and time. Of course, I steered myself there." John, too, always seemed to be in the right place at the right time, spreading laughter and joy wherever he went. Though he has left us, his spirit, his humor, and his love for life will continue to inspire us. John Paul Koltiska, you may have taken your final bow, but your show will go on in our hearts forever.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the National MS Society.
