Goodwin-Sievers Family Funeral Home - VincennesJohn M. Konen, 65, of Cayuga, Indiana passed away on September 8, 2025. He was born in Vincennes, Indiana on January 19, 1960, to the late John L. and Margarette (Courtright) Konen. John graduated from Rivet High School and continued his education at Vincennes University, where he received his associate's degree. John worked for Duke Energy and was a member of the IBEW 1393 for 20 years prior to his retirement.
John spent most of his life on the move and surrounded by family and friends. Somehow John would make cutting and splitting wood into a party. With laughter rolling and music blaring he would get the job done then move the party into the side yard to chip balls for money and then end the night around the dining room table playing a game of euchre or poker. On slower days John enjoyed 18 holes of golf, a weekend away fishing with his buddy Eddie, mushroom hunting, or to simply sit in the recliner and watch the Greenbay Packers. His dance moves, crazy antics, and the love he had for his children and grandchildren will be missed.
John is preceded in death by his parents John L. and Margarette Konen; daughter Meagan Bates; sister Patricia Konen.
He is survived by his children John G. (Brittany) Konen, Tara (Chris) Roe, Kiley (Lukas) Kimbrough, Travis (Loran) Parke, Kailyn (Cody) Huff, Dalton (Emilee) Weaver; grandchildren Lauryn, Grace, Avery, Everett, Lennon, Max, John, Evelyn, and baby Weaver; siblings Kay (Richard) Landrey, Janet (Bill) Stevens, Judy (Tom) Brocksmith, Jonell (Richard) Byrd, Lisa (Hugh) Fliam; nephew Brian (Jodi) Patrick; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Goodwin Sievers is honored to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Konen. Visitation will be September 27, 2025, at 524 Broadway Street from 11 to 2:30. The Celebration of Life will begin promptly at 2:30 pm with burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery following immediately.
