John Hilbert entered the world on December 17, 1959, born to Francis and Margaret (née Mayer) Hilbert, who have since passed. He was a graduate of Hustisford High School's class of 1978, John soon found himself managing distribution for the Daily Citizen Newspaper in Beaver Dam. After his military service, he embarked on a new path at MEC in Mayville, where he operated punch presses with precision. Outside of work, John took great pride in cultivating his beloved green peppers and had a passion for crafting intricate model cars and model space ships.
