John Royce Landrum, 88, passed away on June 16, 2024, in Tyler, Texas. He was born on August 1, 1935, in Maypearl, Texas to parents John Raymond and Ima Faye (Goodman) Landrum.

John attended Kemp High School, graduating in 1953. He later met his wife, Shirley Ann Richard, and they were married on September 22, 1956. John worked as a sales manager for Industrial Towel & Uniform, later known as Aramark, before retiring after more than 40 years of service.

John was an avid golfer, loved to hunt, and had many adventures with good friends and family at several different deer leases, which yielded many funny stories. Another true love of John’s was going to casinos, where he actually did pretty well, and spending time with his special friend, Jan Fox of Kaufman, Texas.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; his parents, Raymond and Ima Landrum; and his brother, Farrell Landrum.

John is survived by his children, Karen McDougald and husband Lynn, and Jonna Landrum and husband Randy, all of Kemp, Texas; his grandchildren, Sabrina McDougald and Jason of Chandler, Texas, Heather McDougald of Kemp, Texas, John David Cook and Kaitlyn of Addison, Texas, Cody Cook and Amanda of Nacogdoches, Texas, and Chase Sears of Irving, Texas; his great grandchildren, Tyson Garrison and Jordan of Athens, Texas, and Chesney McBride of Chandler, Texas. John is eagerly anticipating the arrival of his 3rd great-grandchild, Royce Lane Cook, and his 1st great-great-grandchild, Leighton Seager Garrison. He is also survived by many other family and friends.

Pallbearers are John David Cook, Cody Robert Cook, Tyson Lane Garrison, Tony Hadaway, Bill Wright, and Jason Grant; Honorary Pallbearers are Dee Thompson, Jimmy Dee Thompson, and Chase Sears.
