What a loss! Johnny was a wonderful happy friend to all the regulars at Mitch´s including myself. I was there in the wild 70´s when the fish fry´s first started. It was just us locals at first but quickly became an event for anyone and everyone.
Captain Tuna was always there playing cribbage with his friends as well. The respect for Johnny and his Dad was evidenced by us all. Sometimes at night Tuna would fall asleep behind the bar and we would get our own beers. No one ever stole one, we would simply write our name and what we drank on a chit. Then pay up later!
Such a wonderful place. Johnny was a very special man to me, more of a friend than many others. The first stop after a trip fishing was Mitch´s whether we had been out a day or two or a week, or more.
Johnny will be missed and remembered fondly by me as a happy easy going friend; and by all that entered The Old Oare House!
RIP Johnny!!
