John D. Layman, Sr., age 91, of Okolona, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. A proud veteran, he retired as a Senior Master Sergeant from the Air National Guard. He was also the former co-owner of J & R Outboard.
John was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 73 years, Shirley Louise Winebrenner. He is lovingly remembered by his four children: Doug Layman (Laura), Debbie Miles (John), Dennis Layman (Wanda), and Dawn Allgood; his grandchildren: Mike Layman, Leah Mills, Aaron Terry, Ashley Goodman, Jonathan Miles, Michelle Campbell, and Matthew Layman; 12 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 11, 2025 from 12:00pm - 2:00pm with his Funeral Service at 2:00pm at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd, Louisville, KY 40205 with full Military Honors and 21 gun salute.
Private Burial to be held at a later date at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central.
