He was born on September 25, 1964 in St. Louis, MO to John Thomas and Barbara (Brazzell) Richards.
John married Jacquelyn Wingerter in Granite City on August 25, 1992.
The loving husband and father was a truck driver for 35 years. He enjoyed wood working and making knives. John enjoyed playing Santa Claus during the holiday season and spending time with loved ones. He loved his Mt Dew soda and his biscuits & gravy.
John is survived by his wife; a daughter, Shana (Del) Roso of Granite City; a son, Michael Whitford of Granite City; 4 grandchildren: Rachel, Alivia, Katie and Logan; a great grandson, Julian; a sister, Loretta Hollenback of Maryville, IL and a niece Raquel Hollenback of Alton, IL.
Besides his parents, John is preceded in death by a daughter, Michelle Thomas.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 2025 at Wojstrom Funeral Home & Crematory in Granite City, IL. Burial will follow at St John Cemetery on Nameoki Rd in Granite City.
Memorials may be made to The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society.
