John Thomas Lewis, 67 of Delaware passed peacefully, after a courageous and hard-fought battle with Glioblastoma, on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at Delaware Court Healthcare Center.
Born June 18, 1957 in West Virginia, the son of the late George S. & Edith (Hackworth) Lewis. John graduated from Galion High School in 1975, he would then go on to further his education and receive his Bachelor's in Business Administration from Otterbein University.
Since the age of 16, John had an interest in aviation, learning early on how to fly small airplanes. He eventually earned his pilots license and helicopters endorsement a little over 15 years ago. John enjoyed everything with an engine, whether it be big or small, including 4-wheelers, tractor, lawn mowers, or his helicopter and plane. John was also quite the handy-man, being able to fix anything.
John was the National Sales Manager for North American Bus Industries and was with the company for over 30 years before retiring.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Elaine Lewis and brother George Lewis.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons Shawn (Tasha) and Ted Lewis; grandchildren Fallon & Stella Lewis; partner of 10 years Lynne Sutton and her 4 children and 10 grandchildren; sister-in-law Sandy Lewis; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
John lived on his little piece of heaven in Delaware county, which he called The Compound, he and Lynne were developing the 17 acres into what they wanted for their retirement. They traveled to many places including Europe, South America, the Caribbean and within the States. John was loving, understanding, giving and most of all caring. He most of all loved spending time with family, especially the grandchildren.
