John Ervin Lingle died in his sleep on Tuesday, May 31, 2022. He was born on February 5, 1985 to Roland C. and Dena Squires Lingle. He was a graduate of Fayetteville Academy and East Carolina University with a Bachelors of Science in Business. He had worked in the credit card processing and mortgage industries. At the time of his death, he was working tirelessly with his parents to develop/redevelop a small number of properties in Cumberland and Brunswick Counties.
John was an avid reader and knowledgeable in many areas. He was happiest on the North Carolina coast or tractoring on his parents mini-farm in Brunswick County. He was a gourmet cook and spent the Memorial Day weekend before his death preparing scrumptious meals for his family and friends at Caswell Beach.
John is survived by his parents, a sister, Maggie Lingle, of Brunswick County and Hartford, TN, his aunts, Carol S. Langdon, Evette Squires, Betty Lingle Duncan (Tom), and two cousins, Daniel Duncan and Andrew Duncan, as well as a host of friends who are devastated at this loss of a wonderful son, brother and friend who has left us too soon.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are entrusted to sullivan's Highland Funeral Service & Crematory.

Not only have I lost a good friend, but someone that was like a younger brother to me. I will certainly miss our protracted and aggrandized political discussions where we solved absolutely nothing but had a great laugh at our responses. Clearly, we appeared overly-qualified for public office. But John was and is a leader not only for his acumen in a wide array of subject matter, but a leader for his family, friends, and community.
