John C. Linkesh, of Dahlonega, Ga formerly of Weirton, WV passed away at his home on July 6, 2022.He was 91 years old.
John was born in Cherry Valley, Pennsylvania on September 21, 1930; the second of five children born to John and Mildred Bucklich Linkesh.
John graduated from Union High School in Burgettstown, Pa. After high school, John served his country in the United States Army from April of 49 until September of 52.
An entrepreneur from his youth, John started from scratch. His first real business was a gas station he opened in 1959 in Weirton, WV. The business grew into a multi- state real estate development company, Gas For Less, Inc., with gasoline and restaurants being the initial investments.
In 1967, John moved his family to the Bel- Aire addition of Weirton. Where he went to work daily at the initial gas station, he established at the foot of Cove Hill Road.
Sadly, in May of 1983, John lost his wife Anna Mae to cancer.
In 2008, John moved to Dahlonega, Georgia where his son Mark and family resides.
John never missed Mass on Sunday. He was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church in Weirton and Saint Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Gainesville, GA.
Most of all, John will be remembered as a kindhearted hardworking family man with conservative values.
In addition to his parents and his wife Anna Mae Baka Linkesh, John was also preceded in death by his sister, Jean Janosco.
He will be remembered with love and admiration by his sons Brian (Sheryl) Linkesh and Mark (Nancy) Linkesh; his sisters, Alice Banach, Rita Ussack, and Mary Ann Locher; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 3 PM until 7 PM Friday, July 8, 2022, at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church in Weirton.
Entombment will follow at Saint Paul's Cemetery in Weirton.
Memorial contributions may be made to Food for the Poor 6401 Lyons Road, Coconut Creek, FL 33073 or Family Promise 3606 McEver Road, Oakwood, GA 30566.
