John Mack Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home on Jan. 2, 2026.
John Homer Mack, age 93, husband of Edith C. (Hartley) Mack, of Perkiomenville, PA, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at home on his farm. Born on April 25, 1932, he was a son of the late Jesse M. and Sarah A. (Detweiler) Mack.

He grew up on his family's farm in Upper Providence township. Upon completion of his schooling at Upper Providence Consolidated School, John worked as a carpenter for 10 years. He then went on to own and operate John H. Mack Excavating for 59 years. A farmer his whole life, John worked his farm with Percheron draft horses and Farmall tractors. He took pride in his collection of over 25 tractors. He loved showcasing his horses and tractors throughout the community while supporting organizations such as The Goshenhoppen Historians, the Trappe Grange, and the Apple Butter Frolic.

Over the years, John served faithfully as a song leader, deacon and choir member. Most recently, he attended the Lower Skippack Mennonite Church. John was also a member of the Red Power Tractor club. Along with his five brothers, he enjoyed singing at special events. He looked forward to camping trips with his family each summer, and his annual 4th of July Tractor Parade at his farm that has taken place since 1976 with many other friends and neighbors and their tractors.

John and his wife Edith celebrated 72 years of marriage in September. In addition to his wife, John Homer is survived by four children; Diane, wife of Greg Ubben, Philip, husband of Bonnie Mack, Marlene, wife of Stanley Richard, and Ted, husband of the late Barbara Mack; eleven grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren, two sisters, Eunice, wife of the late Paul Hollinger, and Esther, wife of Arthur King; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by seven siblings, Naomi, Abram, Mary, Norman, Jesse, Daniel and Joseph Mack.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his celebration of life in the Lower Skippack Mennonite Church, 892 Evansburg Road, Collegeville, PA on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 11:15 am. Visitation will take place in the Church from 10:00 am - 11:00 am. The family has kindly requested no flowers, but cards of condolence are welcome. Arrangements are being handled by the Cattermole - Klotzbach Funeral Home, Royersford, PA. Condolences may be offered online at www.RoyersfordFuneralHome.com.

I met John about 15 years ago in church and we immediately hit it off. Our shared interest in tractors and farming gave us plenty to talk about. He was always proud to show me his priceless collection of Farmall Tractors and I always loved seeing them. I'm very proud to be able to say that we were friends. He and Mrs. Mack raised a wonderful God loving family. The world could take a lesson from them. Amen
