John Mahala, age 81, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2025 at Hermitage Healthcare in Elizabethton, TN. He was born January 7, 1944 to the late Ciscero and Vannie Mahala. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sisters, Pauline Roark and Edna Lewis, and brothers, Vernon Mahala, Clarence Mahala, and Walt Mahala.
John was a kind person who took good care of others. He was of the Baptist faith.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 36 years, Doris Mahala; daughter, Elizabeth Mahala; son, Anthony Mahala; sister, Madeline Parsons; brothers, Fred Mahala, Roy Mahala, and Billy Joe Mahala; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Shady Valley Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with James Gentry officiating. The graveside service and burial will follow from the Jack Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Anthony Mahala, Demitri Mahala, Simon Mahala, Chris Mahala, and Collin Mahala.
