John J. Markus

John J. Markus, 72 of Canal Fulton, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2022. He was born September 15, 1949 in Massillon to the late Steve Markus and Helen Markus Martin. John worked as an engraver at Heil and Ultra Engraving before starting his own business and working on his time. He finished his career working alongside his son at Circle Mold and Machine before he retired to enjoy life. John loved cooking Hungarian food, gardening and working on his tractors with his son and sidekick, John. He also enjoyed watching Cleveland Browns football and fishing with his brother-in-law and best friend, Gary. Most importantly John loved spending time with his kids, grandkids and sitting on the best front porch around with his love, aka BENSON, enjoying the beautiful view.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Steve and Alex Markus and sister, Alice Markus Griffith. John is survived by his daughters, Stephanie (Scott) Fackler, Chrystal (Bahman) Danesteh, and Angie (Gregg) Breiding; son, John Markus; grandchildren, Joshua Miller, Brittany Miller, Hunter Fackler, Kelsey Fackler, Peyton Fackler, Markus Fackler, Amanda Danesteh, Emily Breiding, Abby Breiding, John (Clara) Markus II, Madison Markus and Christian Markus; great-grandchildren, Elliott Miller and Haleigh Mae Markus; sisters, Betty (Joe) Jeromos, Mary (Gary) Anderson and the absolute love of his life and very best friend, Sherry Benson.
Funeral Services will be held WEDNESDAY, August 3, 2022, 11:00am at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 Cherry St. E. (Rt. 93) Canal Fulton, Fr. Kevin McCaffrey officiating. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday, 5pm to 8pm and also one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, John's family requests to enjoy a meal with your family as this was one of his favorite things to do.
