John A. Marxer
October 15, 2024, Age 81
John A. Marxer, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2024, at the age of 81. Born on April 16, 1943, in Dearborn, Michigan, he was the cherished son of the late Otto H. Marxer and Laura (Mundo).
John is survived by his devoted wife, Debra, with whom he shared 24 wonderful years. He was a loving father to Watson "Mickey" (Kim) Miller, Sarah (the late Pete) Grohmann, Wilhelmina P.A. (Chris) Marxer, Emma (Kaleo) Marxer, John C. (Michelle) Dunkel, and Julianna Zuccato. He took great pride in being a grandfather to Matthew, Erica, Sabrina, Ryan, Robert, Nicole, Johanna, Prospero, Taylor, Payton, and Bryant, as well as a great-grandfather to many.
He was the dear brother of the late Michael Marxer. A man of unwavering faith, John was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church, where he made lasting contributions to his community.
John's academic journey was marked by excellence; he earned his undergraduate degree from Williams College, continued his graduate studies at the University of Michigan, and received his Juris Doctorate from Georgetown University. He authored the book "The Sensational Swing," which remains a favorite on bookstore shelves.
An avid sports enthusiast, John enjoyed golf, paddleball, and was a talented tennis pro, participating in various tournament circuits. He was known for his infectious humor, a true jokester who had the remarkable ability to light up any room with his stories and classic "dad jokes." He was also proud to hold citizenship in Liechtenstein.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Church of the Holy Family, 24505 Meadowbrook Rd., Novi, MI 48375, followed by a Memorial Mass at 10:30 AM. John will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield, MI.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Parkinson's Foundation, honoring John's spirit and the causes he cared deeply about.
John A. Marxer will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his love, laughter, and the indelible mark he left on the lives of those who knew him.
