John May Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Armer Funeral Home, Inc. - Ballston Spa on Dec. 15, 2025.
John May ( Johnny)-beloved son, brother, father, uncle, husband and friend-passed peacefully with his family around him. He lived his life with love, intelligence, passion, and unpredictable energy that made him unforgettable.
John's life was not always an easy one, but his big heart and fierce loyalty defined the way he loved and protected those closest to him.
John was predeceased by his beloved mother, Lora May; his father, Benjamin May; his brothers, Jimmy May and Peter May; his beloved nephews, Benjamin May and Seth May; and his cherished son, Cade May, whom he carried with him always.
He is survived by his wife Beth May, children, Alexandrea May, Bradley May, and Scotland May, and by his sisters, Sonia May and Karen Carey, and her husband Robert Carey. Sonia and Karen loved John with all their hearts. The three of them shared a bond that only siblings can know, a trio shaped by history, love, and shared memories. Life will never be the same, but that bond will live on forever in their hearts. John's love for his children was vast and unwavering.
Allie and her "Daddums" loved their outings together, and John cherished time spent with all of his children-going to the movies, shopping, and discovering the best places to eat. He treasured the time he shared with his "pals," Bradley and Scotland. His children were his greatest joy and his deepest love, and they will miss him dearly while loving him always.
John also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in his heart and brought laughter, connection, and meaning to his life. He is remembered with love by his longtime friend Cheryll Squadere and by Troy Tenace and his children, who lovingly called him "Papa."
A devoted sports fan, John passionately followed the Toronto Blue Jays and the Dallas Cowboys. He loved the game of golf, especially when it meant spending time on the course with his son and his golf buddies. A gifted writer with a sharp mind and strong voice, John earned the affectionate nickname "the Author."
John was just weeks away from completing a significant personal achievement-earning his degree as a substance abuse counselor, reflecting his desire to help others through difficult struggles shaped by his own lived experience.
There was never a dull moment when Johnny was around. He left lasting impressions and lived with intensity. His presence will be felt in shared stories, quiet memories, and the moments that unexpectedly bring a smile. He will be remembered always by those who knew him, loved him, and carry his memory forward. See you in the stars, Johnny.
