John McGeachy Obituary

John "Jack" McGeachy Powell - John (Jack) Edward McGeachy passed away on August 20, 2024. He was born in Caseville, MI, to the late

Milton and Ora McGeachy (Dickman). He grew up in Mt. Morris and graduated from Mt. Morris High School. Jack served his country in the U.S. Navy. While stationed in Newport, RI, in 1965, he met and married.

Lena R. Hathaway becoming stepfather to Charles and Nina. After moving to Norfolk, VA, he retired in 1971 as a Senior Chief after 20 years of service. They moved to Weeksville, NC, in 1978, where he lived and loved vegetable gardeninguntil 2015. His final years were spent living with his stepdaughter Nina Hathaway and her husband Nageswara Rao in Powell, TN.

Jack was preceded in death by his wife Lena, his brothers Bill and Jerry, sister Delores, and stepson Charles.

He is survived by his stepdaughter Nina (Nageswara); his nieces Debbie Donaldson (Rick), Mary Hensley, Linda Kaminski, Glenna Thompson, Debbie Lopez, Amy Jo Harkelroad, Linda Secrist, and Janice McGeachy; and his nephews Jerry Jr. McGeachy and Dennis Precour . He will be cremated and laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
