Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home - KaufmanJohn Samuel McNally, affectionately known as Sam, passed away on July 30, 2025, in Wills Point, Texas. He was born on April 30, 1944, in Dallas, Texas, to CC and Katherine McNally. Raised in Canton, Texas, Sam graduated from high school and began his lifelong career in the auction industry by working alongside his father at Canton Livestock Auction.
Sam’s passion for service led him to enlist in the United States Marine Corps, where he served honorably from 1967 to 1969. Returning home, he found his calling in the world of auto auctions, dedicating many years to this profession in Fort Worth, San Antonio, Dallas and Tyler Auto Auctions until his retirement.
He and his longtime partner and wife, Georganne Thomas McNally, moved to Kaufman in August 1984, with their sons, Gary and Jacob. Together, Sam and Georganne embraced country living, a lifestyle Sam cherished deeply. Known for his meticulous gardening and love of fishing, he spent countless hours tending to his garden, always working on new projects. His devotion and passion not only brought beauty to their surroundings but were also a testament to the nurturing spirit he shared with those around him.
Sam will be remembered for his profound impact on his family. He played a pivotal role in raising his sons, Gary and Jacob, helping shape them into the remarkable men they have become. He also relished his role as a grandfather, leaving a legacy of love and guidance to his grandchildren:
Sam is survived by his beloved wife Georganne, sister-in-law Kathy Strong, brother-in-law Vince Pyle and wife Cheryl, his sons; Gary Thomas and wife Christy and Jacob Thomas and wife Joni, grandchildren; Colton Thomas and fiancée Sammie, Andrew Thomas, Jacob Thomas and wife Makennah, Logan Thomas, Kiersten Thomas, Elicia Ewing, and Xavier Ewing and wife Kalen, ten great-grandchildren: Reyer, Tripp, Easton, Emberly, Wesley Alexander, Kyler, Blakely, Kenner, Kinsley, Keller, and numerous nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Bethany Thomas; siblings Betty K. Duffer, Bob McNally, and Bill McNally; and his parents, CC McNally and Katherine (Katy) McNally.
John S. McNally’s legacy will endure in the hearts of those who knew him as a dedicated family man, a hardworking professional, and a steadfast friend. He will be greatly missed.
