John Sevcik Obituary

Visit the Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home - Kaufman website to view the full obituary.

John Thomas Sevcik, a beacon of kindness and warmth, made his final journey on August 27, 2025, in Crandall, Texas. He was born on August 12, 1957, in Dallas, Texas. He was a freight forwarder, a steadfast professional who dedicated many years to his craft before retiring in 2023. Yet it was not merely his work that defined him; it was the way he lived, with an open heart and a genuine smile that could put anyone at ease.

John possessed a spirit enriched by his proud Czech heritage. His stories, woven from the fabric of family and tradition, were treasures he shared with many, especially with his beloved grandchildren. It was in those moments, often punctuated with laughter and playful banter, that John truly shone. He was a man of simple pleasures—a romantic at heart who found joy in the sound of wind chimes dancing in the breeze or the soft rustle of leaves whispered by the wind as he immersed himself in nature’s embrace. The mountains and rustic cabins called to him, offering a sanctuary where he could connect with the beauty of the world.

Family meant everything to John. He adored his grandkids, spending cherished afternoons watching birds flutter about, sharing in their wonder and delight. There was a depth to his kindness that seemed to wrap around those he loved, making them feel cherished and valued. His daughter, Anna, and grandchildren—Gladys and Thomas Paine—are among those who carry his legacy forward, holding close the memories created in the warm cocoon of their family bond.

John was also firmly rooted in faith, embodying the very principles he held dear as a deacon and in the Gideons International. He was a committed participant in the Texas Baptist Men’s Chainsaw Ministry. The legacy of his godly character rippled into the lives of others, as he lived his faith quietly yet profoundly, serving those around him with unwavering love.

He leaves behind his cherished spouse, Ruby, who stood by his side through the years, and his daughter, Anna Paine and husband Jon, as well as his dear brother, Mitchel Sevcik, and sister-in-law, Marlo Wood. Together with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, they will remember him not just as a father, spouse, and brother, but as a tender soul who could spell and articulate any five-syllable word backwards—a delightful quirk that mirrored the cleverness and joy he brought to every conversation.

John’s parents, Donald John Sevcik and Jo (Nicholson) Sevcik, along with his brother-in-law, William Wood, welcome him now in the eternal peace of the ages. As we bid farewell to such a splendid gentleman, may we remember not only the kind man who hated to dance but loved to make others smile; a soul whose legacy of love, laughter, and faith continues to inspire all who knew him.

The family invites you to a Visitation and Funeral Service on Friday, September 5, 2025, with the visitation beginning at 1:00 and the Celebration of Life at 2:00.
