John Meechin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Solimine Funeral Homes - Broadway from Mar. 6 to Mar. 7, 2023.
John W. "Jack" Meechin, age 83 and lifelong resident of Lynn, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, March 4, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Mary (Millett) Meechin with whom he shared over 31 years of marriage. Born in Lynn in 1939, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Killian) Meechin. He was raised and educated in Lynn and graduated from Lynn English High School in 1956. Jack served 3 years active duty in the United States Army as a Specialist 4, Radio Repairman and an additional 3 years in the National Guard before being honorably discharged. He worked as a machinist at Tool Technology in Danvers for many years and following his retirement he worked part time at Solimine Funeral Homes in Lynn for over 20 years. He was an avid Boston sports fan especially the Patriots and Bruins. Growing up, Jack also loved to play sports. He was a star pitcher on the first ever Lynn Little League team, helping them win the State Championship in 1951 and also coached at East Lynn and Wyoma Little Leagues. He loved his motorcycles, spending time with his riding buddies and attending local car shows where he would show off his prized 1950 Mercury. Handy around the house, he often helped his family and friends with projects they had at their homes and built the best desks for his children and grandchildren. He loved his German Shepherds and joining his brothers every morning for coffee and conversation. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his wife Mary, Jack is survived by his loving children, Debbie Meechin, Wendi (Meechin) Venza and her husband Jimmy and Christopher Meechin and his wife Emily all of Lynn; his step-children, M. and Alice Millett of Salem; his beloved grandchildren, Michael Meechin and his wife Angela, Ryan Werner and his wife Jill, Maddison (Holmes) Lynch and her husband Bernard, Jaleel Millett, Sarena Lewis, Rayne Millett, Gabriela Millett, Miabella Millett, Nora Meechin and Lillian Meechin; his adoring great-grandchildren, Jack and Kennedy Meechin and Nola Lynch, his brothers, Robert "Bob" Meechin and his wife Janey, William "Bill" Meechin and his wife Denise and Thomas "Tom" Meechin and his wife Neke all of Lynn and his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and close friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his former wife Carol (Borders) Meechin.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 10, 2023 in the SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Rt. 129), Lynn at 11a.m. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
