John C. Meerdink, 64 of Parma Heights, Ohio passed away on April 19, 2025, after a brief illness.
John was born on June 12, 1960, to Morris and June Meerdink (nee Olsen) in San Francisco, California. The family moved to Cleveland, Ohio in 1965.
After John graduated from Midpark High School in 1978, he went on to study at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
Graduating in 1982 with a degree in architecture, John worked briefly as a consultant for HWH Architects in Cleveland. He subsequently took positions as a space planner for both AT&T and Case Western Reserve University. John spent the last seventeen years of his work career as a civil engineer for Dominion Energy, designing gas supply lines to new and existing sites throughout northeast Ohio.
John will be remembered for his generous and outgoing nature, his capacity for making friends everywhere, his lively sense of humor, and his love of music, gardening, reading, and his great fondness for the many dogs whose companionship he enjoyed over the years.
John and his wife, Victoria, were married for 32 years. Their devotion throughout the many health challenges they faced during their marriage testified to their great commitment to each other.
John will be fondly missed by his loving wife, Victoria (nee Dickman), his devoted sisters, Kristine Gaston and Julie Root (Dale), his nieces, Emily Root (Terry Pokornik), Annie Rigda (Alex), Rebecca Grimm (John), Rachel Civittolo (fiancé, Steven Richardson), great-nephew, Charles Grimm, great-nieces, Avery Pokornik and Ivy Rigda, mother-in-law, Mary Ann Dickman and father-in-law, Neil Dickman (deceased), sisters-in-law, Terri Civittolo (Anthony) and Heidi Long (Kenneth), cousins and the many friends who enriched his life.

A funeral service will be held for John at 10am on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 6906 W. Pleasant Valley Rd.,
Parma, OH 44129. Meet at church. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park, North Olmsted. Family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at the BUSCH FUNERAL HOME, 7501 Ridge Rd.,
