John A. Meyerle, 86, of Point Pleasant, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, surrounded by his loving family. John was born in New York City and raised in Queens, NY. He was a graduate of The City College of New York with a degree in engineering. He started his 40-year career as a draftsman for Bell Labs and retired in 1992 as an electrical engineer for Bellcore Company, Red Bank. John was a member of the Republican Club of Point Pleasant, Point Pleasant Elks, Chairman of the New Jersey Coalition for Property Tax Reform and a 20-year volunteer for AARP helping seniors file their taxes. He was an active member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Point Pleasant, NJ and was very involved as the photographer for the children's Vacation Bible School. John enjoyed telling jokes and bringing laughter to those around him. He was an avid boater, fisherman, and loved working on classic cars.
John is survived by his devoted and loving wife of over 60 years, Erna (nee Villing) Meyerle, of Point Pleasant, his beloved children; Catherine Blount and her husband Jeffrey of Aberdeen, MD, Carolyn Vanderwerf and her husband Jason of Yardley, PA, Christine Jude of Brick, and John Meyerle and his wife Breen of Brick. John was the cherished grandfather to Dominique Tennyson and her husband Ben, Olivia DiAngelo and her husband Ronny, Edmund Jude and his wife Gabriella, Harrison Jude, Caitlin Meyerle, Jillian Meyerle and great-granddaughter Capri DiAngelo.
Family and friends are invited to attend a "Celebration of Life" service, on Thursday, December 29, 2022, 11:00 am at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 708 RT 88 Point Pleasant, NJ 08742. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made in John's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital by going online to www.stjude.org.
