John Michael Miller, age 52, of Bonner Springs, Kansas, and previously of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, August 13th, 2025. A Celebration of his life will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 24th, at the Lake of the Forest Clubhouse. His family will greet friends and family following the service.
John was born on August 20th, 1972, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Shirley Marie Miller and Wilbur Carl Junior Hayes. He grew up in the Northeast area of Kansas City, Missouri, and later the Turner area of Kansas City, KS. John had worked in sales at Schutte Lumber for many years, then went on to sell cars at Bob Sight Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, in Lawrence, Kansas. John enjoyed selling cars and was very successful in this role. He loved to make people laugh, either through a clever joke, a funny story, or his playful sense of humor. John may or may not have told the joke right on the first try, or even the second, but he always made it funny. Life was never dull with him; he was always willing to try new things, like ziplining and hiking in Colorado, despite his fear of heights. John was known to be a hard worker and always had a job. He loved his family and always put them first. John was not just a monetary provider, but a provider of love, support, and encouragement. Later in life, he took on the role of being a father. He accepted and embraced this role. He loved and supported James and Faith in every way he could. John was the best husband, dad, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He brought light, laughter, and energy into every life he touched. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
John was preceded in death by his dad, Junior Hayes; stepdad, Curtis Browne; uncle Bubba Miller; aunt Carol McSpaden, and aunt Sharon Gillespie.
Survivors include his wife Stephanie Miller of the home, daughter Faith Miller, stepson James Blauvelt, mother Shirley Browne, sister Carol Hayes (Dana), sister Michelle Borden (Ron), brother Paul Hayes, and cousin Chris Williams (Stephanie). As well as several nieces, nephews, extended family, and many, many friends.
