John E. Morgan

John E. Morgan, 94, of Franklin, died Tuesday night, September 16, 2025 at The Caring Place, following an illness.

He was born in Oil City on December 23, 1930 to the late Ora A. and Rose R. (Korb) Morgan.

He was a 1948 graduate of Oil City High School.

John was a former member of the Oil City Eagle's Club; and a member of the Moose Lodge #83 in Franklin; as well as a member of the Petrolia Masonic Lodge #363 and the New Castle Consistory.

John enjoyed hunting, woodworking, and spending time with his special friends, Dan and Edna Lutz.

Mr. Morgan worked as a pattern maker in various foundries and manufacturers through the years, beginning at Worthington and later at the Transit. He then worked for Cooper-Bessemer in Grove City, Oil Well Supply Co. in Oil City, and later Cooper Energy. He also built modular homes, and had a pattern shop in his workshop at home.

He was married on November 22, 1952 to the former Phyllis I. (Reed), and she preceded him in death on May 11, 2008.

John is survived by two sons, Michael Morgan and his companion Vicki Castile of Oil City, and Jeffrey Morgan and his wife Tracy of Cranberry; five grandchildren: Dylan Castile, Kyle Morgan and his fiancé Robin, Jeremy Morgan and his wife Amanda, Mathew Turner and his wife Raquel, and Nicholas Turner and his wife Leah; and eight great-grandchildren: Madalynn Hartsuyker, Jayce, Adalyn, Chelsey, Alysta, Quentin, Madilyn, and Gigi. Also surviving is his cousin whom he was close with, Melanie Bean of Youngsville.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Vivian E. Morgan.

Visitation will be held Saturday (Sept. 20) from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, where a funeral service will follow Saturday at 1 p.m. with Rev. Mark Rusnak, chaplain at The Caring Place, officiating. Interment will be made in the Venus Cemetery.
