John M. "Mick" Moroney, 82, of Bethlehem passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at Kirkland Village. Born on February 21, 1943, he was the son of the late Anna G. (McCahill) and James M. Moroney. He was the loving husband of the late Agnes A. (McGowan) Moroney.
Mick graduated from Bethlehem Catholic High School, where he proudly played on the 1960 State Champion basketball team. He continued his education at Mount St. Mary's and later earned a Master's degree from Lehigh University. Mick dedicated 29 years to Bethlehem Steel before founding and operating Clever Closets for two decades. A devoted member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and a lifelong member of the Heights A.A., Mick enjoyed building model trains, cheering for the Eagles and Red Sox, and spending winters in Florida. Above all, he treasured time with his family and was his grandchildren's biggest fan.
He will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Dan Moroney (Tracy) and Jim Moroney (Debi); daughter, Debbie Moroney (Clay Brown); grandchildren, Caitlin, Sean, Michael, Megan and John and great-grandchildren, Cateri, Leah and Ronan. Mick was preceded in death by his brothers, L. James Moroney and Joseph P. Moroney and sister, Mary Marzec.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church 3219 Santee Rd. Bethlehem, PA 18020. Burial will be held at Holy Saviour Cemetery.
